What is Giving Tuesday?
From the Giving Tuesday website:
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
Shasta Riding Club is just getting going. We are teaching lessons, running day camps, and working on finalizing our nonprofit status! It’s been a busy year and we are so excited to help the program grow and thrive.
This year we’ve seen some of our students go from timid, beginner riders to confident jumpers, from quiet and shy to confident leaders in camp, and for many 4-5 year olds, we’ve seen them enjoy their first horse experience at our Saturday Pony Camp. We’ve enjoyed our new facility, Windy Corners Ranch, which has an unbeatable atmosphere and a pretty decent view as well! We’ve been lucky enough to be trusted with 7 wonderful horses and ponies that aren’t our own, for use in our lesson and camp programs.
Our programs help teach valuable life skills and instill confidence, empathy and responsibility in our students through hard work and meaningful opportunities with horses. We pair rescued horses with eager students for lessons, camps and activities. Our students often come from lower income communities with limited opportunities for after school activities.
We are working hard to provide incredible opportunities for Siskiyou County’s youth and we hope that you will support us in our efforts!
Thank you! All of us at SRC appreciate your support! We couldn’t do it without you!
