Shasta Riding Club offers summer camps and Saturday camps through the year. Our summer camps are divided into 5-day sessions, and are generally aimed at kids ages 5-12. During summer camp we ride, do arts and crafts, play games, learn about horses, horsemanship, barn management and we have a picnic lunch on the table in the shade or in the tree house. If it’s hot, we have sprinklers to run through and plenty of shade for resting. Our older students participate as counselors and are especially helpful with the young, timid new riders. No horse experience is necessary for any of our camps!
During the school year we have Saturday Pony Camp on 1 – 2 Saturdays each month in the fall and spring, and often have special holiday camps as well. Saturday camps are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We do many of the same activities as in summer camp, including riding, of course! Saturday Pony Camps are a fun, low-key introduction to horses for youngsters.
We accept ages 5-12 for camps and older students are encouraged to volunteer as counselors in exchange for a fun group lesson after camp. Camps are a great way to make new friends and get involved with our friendly, supportive barn community!
